The Marketing Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Marketing Department inclusive but not limited to timely and accurate development, implementation, stewardship and evaluation of the credit union’s marketing strategies, both locally and nationally, through all channels and in alignment with the credit union’s overall business objectives.

Specific Responsibilities

The end-to-end development and execution of required marketing campaigns and promotions. This includes but is not limited to: messaging and creative strategy, channel and target selection, compliance review, and post-measurement. Works constructively and efficiently with internal personnel, external partners and vendors to ensure promotions are on target, on time, on budget and that appropriate staff are operationally prepared for the promotional activity and response.

  • Building upon strong creativity skills, work with graphic designer(s) to create clear messages and powerful ads. Responsible for proofing campaign material and presenting it to Director of Market Intelligence for final approval.
  • Works closely with the Director of Market Intelligence, SEG Development and other CU personnel on areas of marketing outreach, product development, success measurement, market segmentation, member experience and competitor analysis.
  • Actively participate in the strategic development of the credit union’s annual marketing plan and budget. Efficiently contributes key data and other input as needed to support the qualitative and quantitative creation of the annual marketing plan and budget.
  • Contributes to marketing effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; provides information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommends options and courses of action.
  • Achieves financial goals by establishing objectives, developing budgets, controlling cost, and maximizing use of assets. Proactively recommends adjustments to the marketing plan to ensure alignment with strategic plan and business goals; maintains maximize efficiency of the marketing budget without impacting overall effectiveness.
  • Work closely with Director of Consumer Loans and Chief Lending Officer to determine campaign objectives.
  • Coordinate details of campaigns with Shamrock Center Director of Sales and Training, Shamrock Center Service Manager, Shamrock Center Sales and Outreach Manager, and Director of Branch Operations.
  • Utilizes the appropriate database software on a continuous basis to evaluate marketing productivity, develop targeted marketing programs via effective data mining and analysis, coordinate market research, and provide accurate and reliable data to Executive team and other credit union associates as needed.
  • Compiles data and prepares reports based upon the results of marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinates campaigns materials at all branches, ensuring materials are in branches only during the campaign dates, and that all branches have a consistent look. Manager will also see that campaign material on website is not outdated.
  • Responsible for the development of marketing collateral, including copywriting and proofreading.
  • Responsible for proper media coverage of important credit union news by creating press releases, communicating with targeted media outlets and arranging interviews, as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Effectively hires, mentors and directs the activities of the Marketing Department. Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, appraising job results, coaching, counseling, initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures.



Position requires the individual to work towards meeting various deadlines and paying close attention to detail. A fully competent individual must be able to use spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel. Individual must be able to meet all production and distribution schedules for marketing plans, programs, and collateral materials, and must be creative, self-motivated, organized, dependable and professional, with a demonstrated record as a self-starter. Individual must be able to use diplomacy, tact, and professionalism in actions and appearance.

  • This position requires the individual to possess a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Concentration in Marketing, Communication, and/or Advertising is highly preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in a leadership/management role within a marketing department.
  • Equivalents in education and/or experience may be considered.



Ability to read and write routine marketing reports, correspondence, and collateral copy, such as press releases, newsletter articles, and brochures. The ability to communicate effectively with others, and using appropriate communication tools/methods is needed. Knowledge of the English language is especially needed for purposes of proofreading to detect possible errors.



Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw (using software) and interpret graphs.



Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.



A valid Driver’s License is needed.



Needs to be able to operate a personal computer, as well as the following software applications: Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The candidate must be fully proficient in Microsoft Excel and use of e-mail. Also being proficient in the use of other Marketing Software, such as a MCIF system will be helpful. Graphic design skills are helpful, but not necessary.


Must be able to operate all standard office machinery such as: digital camera; telephone; laser printers; scanners; fax machine; photocopier; typewriter; adding machine; and occasionally VCR, TV, overhead projector, or camcorder.
